You deserve answers. Not just another prescription.

You’ve been told your labs are normal. You’ve been handed antidepressants for symptoms that are hormonal. You’ve been dismissed, rushed, and made to feel like what you’re experiencing isn’t real. Dr. Mary Ann Yehl built Coastal Women’s Medical because that story is far too common — and it doesn’t have to be yours.

“Most doctors see your data four times a year. I see it every day.”

Menopause care that actually listens

Perimenopause and menopause are not diseases to be managed. They are a transition that deserves expert, individualized attention. Dr. Yehl is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) — one of a select group of physicians in New Jersey who have demonstrated advanced expertise in evidence-based menopause management. This is not a general practitioner learning on the job. This is specialized care from someone who has dedicated her practice to it.

At Coastal Women’s Medical, menopause visits are 90 minutes. That is not a typo. You will have time to tell your whole story, review your labs in depth, and leave with a clear, personalized plan — not a generic protocol.

Your treatment options

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy (BHRT / MHT)

Hormone therapy remains the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms and has strong evidence supporting its safety when properly prescribed. Dr. Yehl uses bioidentical hormones — molecularly identical to those your body produces — in the form that best suits your physiology and lifestyle. Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are evaluated individually and optimized over time based on your response and labs.

Non-Hormonal Options

Not every woman is a candidate for hormone therapy, and not every woman wants it. Dr. Yehl is equally skilled in evidence-based non-hormonal approaches including FDA-approved medications, supplements with clinical backing, and lifestyle strategies that genuinely move the needle on symptoms.

Comprehensive Hormonal Testing

Treatment without proper testing is guesswork. We begin with a complete hormonal panel — estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, cortisol, and more — and interpret every result in the context of your symptoms, history, and goals. Labs are reviewed at every visit, not filed away until next year.

Frequently asked questions

Is hormone therapy safe?

For most healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, hormone therapy is safe and highly effective. The fears around HRT stem largely from a flawed 2002 study that has since been substantially revised. Dr. Yehl stays current with the evidence and will walk you through the data specific to your health history.

What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause?

Perimenopause is the transition — typically beginning in your 40s — when hormones begin fluctuating and symptoms emerge. Menopause is defined as 12 consecutive months without a period. Many women suffer in perimenopause for years before receiving appropriate care. We treat both stages with equal attention.

Do you accept insurance?

Coastal Women’s Medical is out of network for commercial insurance. We provide a detailed receipt for reimbursement — coverage varies by plan. We also accept HSA and FSA payments. The length and quality of care we provide is simply not possible within the constraints of an insurance-based model.
